INSTALL GUIDE
INSTALL GUIDE
The Steps:
1. Clean: Wipe your window frame with rubbing alcohol to ensure a strong adhesive bond.
2. Apply Framing Strips: Remove adhesive backing and stick the framing strips along the perimeter of the window.
Note: Each strip is 24" long. If your window height or width is longer than that, simply place the strips side-by-side (end-to-end) to cover the full distance. Cut the last strip to fit if needed.
3. Place Vinyl or Other Insert Material: Cut the plastic sheet slightly larger than the window. Press the sheet against the framing strip you just installed.
4. Lock: Snap the spline strips into the frame strip to lock the vinyl sheet tight.
5. Trim: Use a utility knife or scissors to trim the excess vinyl material for a clean, professional look.

Product FAQs
What are vinyl window framing strips used for?
They're the frame system that holds plastic sheeting or shrink film in place over a window. You stick the base framing strip around the window perimeter using the 3M adhesive backing, lay your plastic sheet over it, then snap the spline strip in to lock it tight. The result is a secure, airtight seal — far more durable than double-sided tape alone. These vinyl strips work with any plastic sheeting up to 8 mil thick, including our Interior Storm Window Kit vinyl.
Do these PVC strips work with plastic sheeting I buy elsewhere?
Yes — the framing strips are compatible with any vinyl sheeting or shrink film up to 8 mil thick. Many customers use them with plastic storm window sheeting they already own. Just make sure your plastic sheet is cut slightly larger than the window opening so the snap-in strip can lock it in cleanly.
What's the difference between these and the full Interior Storm Window Kit?
The framing strips are the channel-and-snap system only — no vinyl sheet included. If you already have your own plastic sheeting or shrink film and just need the framing hardware, this is what you want. If you need everything together (vinyl sheet + framing strips), go with the full Interior Storm Window Kit instead.
Can these vinyl window strips be reused each season?
The snap-in strips are fully reusable — remove them in spring, store them, and reinstall in fall. The adhesive base framing strips bond to your window frame and are designed to stay in place long-term. Most customers leave the base strips on year-round and just remove the snap-in strip and vinyl sheet when they want to open windows.
How do I know how many pairs I need?
Measure your window height and multiply by 2, then measure the width and multiply by 2. Add those together for your total linear feet needed. Each pair covers 2 linear feet (24 inches). The 10-pair pack covers one standard 48" x 72" window; the 50-pair pack covers approximately 5 windows. Always round up to allow for cuts.
Hello. I have been searching for this exact item for days. I have been to 12 window stores and large home improvement stores and none knew what I was talking about. Thanks to RuxEco I jave them now and I am able to update my windows with another air barrier by using these items with 8 mil vinyl sheeting to stop any air or leaks from getting into our home in this brutally cold winter. Again I appreciate this company for carryig these ever important items and for shipping them so quickly as well. (Below is a picture f the adhesive strips and the gasket holding the vinyl sheeting in place around my window- clean and neat). Thanks RuxEco
These were easy to install. I used them for installing screens in my porch windows that didn't come with screens. This next winter I should be able to use them for plastic on the windows.
Exactly what I was looking for. I needed the reusable frame for my windows. You have to peel the insert carefully off the track or the track can come off. If you remove track it can take paint with it. Doesn’t matter since it really stops the drafts in the old wooden sash windows.
These are the best I have used in terms of adhesive and depth of track.
